Huchuy Qosqo Trek to Machu Picchu – 3 Days

Huchuy Qosqo is an Inca archaeological site located north of the city of Cusco; its name is Quechua “Little Cusco”. It is located at an altitude of 3,600 meters above the city of Lamay and the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Huchuy Qosqo Trek goes to the remote areas of Cusco and is a newly opened hiking route located in the north of the city of Cusco. The hike adorns several beautiful peaks such as Sawasiray, Pitusiray, La veronica, and Chicon.

Huchuy Qosqo trek to Machu Picchu begins when we will pick you up from your hotel at 07:00 a.m. and we will take you to Tambomachay (3,800 meters above sea level), an Inca temple of the cult of water that has ceremonial sources. From here, we will begin to walk through the landscapes of the Puna and over the Sicllaccasa pass (4,020 masl). On the other side of the pass, we will walk along a path that leads to a valley called Ccauca. Continuing we will arrive at the Queulloca pass (4,185 masl) where we will enjoy the views of a lake with the same name and the snow-capped mountains of Veronica, Pitusiray, Sawasiray and Chicon. Continuing the walk, we will pass Lake Quellococha where we can see huallatas, ducks and small fish.

We will continue ascending to the fourth pass in Rumicruz (4,230 masl), to enjoy the Cordillera de Vilcanota. At this point, we will have lunch before continuing to an Inca stone quarry (4,220 meters above sea level), the place where the rocks were extracted to build Huchuy Qosqo. Finally, we will descend to the community of Pucamarca and thus end the day

This day we will start having breakfast and then we will walk to Huchuy Qosqo which is already very close to our camp. Huchuy qosqo was an important center in the time of the Incas. There we will have a guided tour for approximately two hours and have time to explore this archaeological site until lunch time, then we will continue the walk to Lamay, where we will board our transport that will take us to the train station located in Ollantaytambo for approximately 1 hour. .

The train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes takes approximately 2 hours and being there we will show you the hotel where you will stay and have dinner, you can also go to the thermal baths if you wish.

The most important day! After breakfast, you and your guide will get on the bus that will take you to the entrance of Machupicchu within Machupicchu, your guide will give you all the information about this wonder of the world for 2 hours then you will have time to explore on your own some places to then return to Aguas Calientes using the bus again. There you have to wait for the time of the return train ticket to Ollantaytambo from there you will take our private transport that will take you directly to your hotel and thus we end the tour
